ALERT TO THE PUBLIC
regarding emails falsely claiming to be from
the FBI:
Perpetrators of Nigerian-style financial
frauds are sending emails to the public that
falsely identify themselves as originating
from the Washington Field Office of the FBI.
The emails include the above banner image and
address. The senders falsely identify
themselves as FBI Agents and claim that the
FBI has intercepted an international wire
transfer being sent to the recipient, and in
order to clear customs and/or terrorist
screening requirements, the recipient must
provide the FBI with detailed personal and
financial information.
DO NOT RESPOND TO
THESE EMAILS, as they are entirely
fraudulent. The emails are typically 1-2
pages long, have numerous grammatical
errors, threaten legal action if the
recipient fails to comply and include a
salutation from the Director of the FBI..

an email claiming to be from the FBI, please
