Adopt-a-School
The Washington Field Office sends agents and support professionals into schools across Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia to talk about the history and mission of the FBI, to reinforce basic academic principles, and to help students practice responsible behavior and stay away from drugs and violence. Ethics, etiquette, and physical fitness are also highlighted in these programs.
Adopt-A-School encompasses one or more of the following programs:
- Junior Academy (for students in high school)
- Junior Special Agent (JSA) (for students in the 6th grade)
- Mentors (for students in the 4th grade) /mentors
- Future Agents in Training (FAIT) (for 16-18 year-old students in high school)

| In May 2007, Assistant Director in Charge Joseph Persichini joined Junior Special Agents from Bucknell Elementary School in Alexandria, Virginia, in ringing the NASDAQ bell in New York City. |

- Achievement Preparatory Academy Public Chartered School (PCS), D.C. Public School, SE, Washington, D.C.
