The following Adopt-a-School events have been held or are scheduled to take place in 2009:
- March 9: Adopt-a-School attended a presentation by renowned neurological surgeon Dr. Benjamin Carson at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
- Restaurant Etiquette Day luncheon events, held in conjunction with Clyde’s Restaurant Group, engaged each of the five Adopt-a-Schools (a total of 140 students) and reinforced proper table manors, how to dress to impress, and how to act in a setting outside of the classroom with their peers.
- March 2: Bucknell Elementary visited Clyde’s at Mark Center in Alexandria, Virginia.
- April 3: Field trip to Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown for students from Savoy Elementary.
- April 7 & October 16: Field trip to Gettysburg National Military Park in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where students have learned and will learn how the battle was a turning point during the Civil War and how President Abraham Lincoln’s famous address was made there.
- May 1: Field trip to New York City for students of Bucknell Elementary, Bancroft Elementary, Savoy Elementary, Dunbar Senior High School, and Browne Educational Campus.
- May 8: U.S. Park Tour Day for students from five schools to visit the Washington Monument and the Lincoln, Jefferson, Korean, Vietnam, World War II, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt memorials. Schools included Bucknell Elementary, Bancroft Elementary, Savoy Elementary, Dunbar Senior High School, and Browne Educational Campus.
- May 19: Junior Special Agent fit-test and picnic at the FBI Academy at Quantico, Virginia for students from Bucknell Elementary, Bancroft Elementary, Savoy Elementary, Dunbar Senior High School, and Browne Educational Campus.
- June 5: Junior Special Agent Graduation at FBI Headquarters for students from Bucknell Elementary, Bancroft Elementary, Savoy Elementary, Dunbar Senior High School, and Browne Educational Campus.
- September 17: Liberty Day at the U.S. Capitol will allow students to get an up close and personal visit to the Capitol and the Rayburn, Cannon, and Longworth House Office buildings.
- September 24: Adopt-a-School students from Savoy elementary and FBI Mentors will meet to kickoff the 2009 school year together. Throughout the year, FBI mentors assist students with tutoring, advising on how they can make the right choices and regularly attend Adopt-a-School field trips.
- October 23: Adopt-a-School from Bucknell and Savoy Elementary schools will attend the Washington Horse Show at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C.
- November 6: Students from Bucknell Elementary, Bancroft Elementary, Savoy Elementary, and Dunbar Senior High School will take a field trip to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
- December 4: A holiday party will be held for more than 200 students from Bucknell Elementary, Bancroft Elementary, Savoy Elementary, Dunbar Senior High School, and Browne Educational Campus. Students participate in a sing-along, enjoy holiday arts and crafts, and get a visit from Santa while reflecting on a year of fun field trips throughout the school year.
