Andrew James Castor was named Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Criminal Division of the Washington Field Office in March 2008.
Mr. Castor entered on duty as a Special Agent with the FBI in April 1989. Upon completion of training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, he was assigned to the San Antonio Division. While there, he investigated a wide range of cases, primarily focusing on white collar crime matters such as large scale bank failures. He earned several awards during his time in San Antonio, including the Western District of Texas Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.
Mr. Castor was promoted to Supervisory Special Agent in the Financial Institution Fraud Unit of the Criminal Investigative Division’s Financial Crimes Section at FBI Headquarters in 1996. In that role, his national program responsibilities included the FBI’s efforts to address financial institution fraud, specifically in the areas of mortgage and loan fraud, check fraud, and electronic payment systems fraud. In April 1999, Mr. Castor was promoted to Supervisory Special Agent in the Cleveland Division. His investigative responsibilities included securities fraud, public corruption, telemarketing, financial institution fraud, antitrust, and the Applicant Program. He also served as the Cleveland Division's White Collar Crime Coordinator.
Mr. Castor was promoted to Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the San Antonio Division in February 2003, where he was responsible for the management of the Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence, and Criminal Programs in the Austin and Waco Resident Agencies. In April 2005, he was promoted to Chief of the Accounting Section of the Finance Division at FBI Headquarters. During his tenure there, he was primarily responsible for accounting for $7 billion in appropriated funds. In November 2006, Mr. Castor was promoted to Deputy Assistant Director of the Human Resources Division, responsible for the FBI’s human capital initiatives.
Mr. Castor was born February 17, 1963, in Wooster, Ohio, and received his primary education throughout the Midwest. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, in 1985. Mr. Castor also earned a Masters in Business Administration from Incarnate Word University in San Antonio, Texas, in 1994.
