Swedish Man Arrested for Attempted Enticement of a Minor |

( Alexandria , Virginia ) – Jesper Lundberg, age 41, of Jarfalla, Sweden was arrested on March 20, 2008 by Arlington County Police and federal agents after traveling from Sweden to Arlington, Virginia. Chuck Rosenberg, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia; M. Douglas Scott, Chief of Police, Arlington County Police Department; Joseph Persichini, Jr., Assistant Director in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Washington Field Office; and, Mark McGraw, Acting Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Washington Division, made the announcement. Lundberg was charged in a federal criminal complaint with traveling into the United States with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor and attempted enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual conduct. If convicted, Lundberg faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years, to a maximum sentence of life in prison on the charge of attempted enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual conduct. He faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison for traveling into the United States with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor. The case is being investigated by the Arlington County Police Department, the FBI, and ICE who are members of the Northern Virginia/District of Columbia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The federal charges are being prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office. Criminal charges are only charges and are not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty. |
