Fairfax Man Sentenced 97 Months for Receipt of Child Pornography
Alexandria, VA—David O. Newman, Jr., age 45, of Fairfax, was sentenced to 97 months in prison today for receiving child pornography over the Internet. Dana J. Boente, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Joseph Persichini, Jr., Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI Washington Field Office, made the announcement following Newman’s sentencing before United States District Court Judge Liam O’Grady.
In addition to his term of imprisonment, Judge O’Grady also ordered Newman to serve a term of 20 years of supervised release, to undergo counseling and to register as a sex offender following his release from prison.
Newman was identified by law enforcement during a national investigation of individuals trading child pornography. Examination of a computer belonging to Newman uncovered approximately 15,000 child abuse images and videos, including images of infants and sadistic conduct.
The investigation was conducted by the Northern Virginia Resident Agency of the FBI Washington Field Office with the assistance of Fairfax County Police Department’s Child Exploitation Task Force. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jay V. Prabhu.
