Annandale Man Sentenced 180 Months for Enticing a Minor

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Edy Rene Castellon, age 53, of Annandale, Va., was sentenced today to 180 months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, for enticing a minor.

Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia; Joseph Persichini, Jr., Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI Washington Field Office; and Colonel David Rohrer, Fairfax County Chief of Police, made the announcement.

On June 30, 2009, Castellon was found guilty of attempted enticement of a minor to engage in prostitution and attempted inducement of a minor to engage in a commercial sex act following a bench trial conducted by United States District Judge Leonie M. Brinkema. According to court records and evidence at trial, Castellon responded to an ad on the Internet placed by law enforcement. During e-mail and telephone discussions with the mother—who was an undercover law enforcement agent—Castellon agreed to pay to engage in sexual acts with her minor daughter. Castellon arrived at the prearranged meeting point at a hotel and brought several hundred dollars to consummate the deal. He was arrested after entering the hotel room.

This case is part of an FBI online child exploitation initiative involving federal, state and local law enforcement departments participating in a Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force. Assistant United States Attorneys Tracy Doherty-McCormick and Robert W. Wiechering prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
